It's finally Autumn and we have some tips for carers and for the eldery to help at this time of the year especially with how it's going to get colder so here's a list of essentials to check over:
1) Get any and all flu vaccines.
This can apply to both carers and the elderly, you should get any flu vaccines you can to make your immunity better to any colds and flus that might be out and about during this autumn and winter.
2) Check medication.
Make sure you or the person you're caring for has stocked up on flu prevention essentials like kleenex, antiseptic wipes and vitamin C or Zinc to boost up your immune system.
3) Cold-proof your home.
Checking that you have blankets, that you can turn the fireplace or heating on if you need it is definitely something to check with not only yourself and definitely check with anyone you're caring for that they have accesbility to some way of getting warm.
4) Check Batteries.
Another great thing to check which I doubt you have because honestly who remembers unless you have an automated service that checks for you, but you should check carbon monoxide and smoke detectors that you own and make sure the batteries work especially if you or the person you're caring for is going to have a fireplace on at some point.
5) Prep for bad weather.
Make sure you have warm and comfortable coats, shoes, hats, scarves, gloves and batteries with a torch that works.
I hope this helps and that you've had a great start to the autumn season, if you like our blogs you should sign up to our newsletter!
