On the 25th of March it is wear a hat day which has become a nationally important awareness event that people all across the UK and beyond support each year. As the culmination of brain tumour month, this is a great way to bring people together and raise money for Brain Tumor Research - which is a charity in the UK that is very dedicated to raising funds for sustainable and continous scientific research into brain tumors and they are a leading voice calling for greater support, awareness and action for research.
Brain tumors can affect any one of any age, but in patients 65 years old and over the main types are Cerebal metastses (originates in the brain and spine through the central nervous system and then spreads to the blood stream or directly invades neighbouring tissues), Malignant atrocytomas (tumors that develop from certain star shaped brain cells called astrocytes which is a sort of cell which forms tissue that surrounds and protects nerve cells found in the brain and spinal cord) and Bengin meningiomas (tumors that start in the layers of tissue that cover the brain and spinal cord).
